Hi!
My name is Jason Shields. I have lived on San Juan with my wife Monika since 2016 and love everything that this beautiful place has to offer. We are home owners and live on the island year round, and also operate a non-profit involving non-invasive killer whale research.
Ever since I was a little I have always had a keen interest in understanding how things work: I’d take things apart to discover the inner workings and then put it all back together. From the time I purchased my first car, I was hooked on mechanics. I took a small engine class, as well as metalwork, woodwork, and fine art throughout middle and high school. It was through shop class that connected me to a position in a welding and machine shop post graduation where I was employed for 10 years. My experience goes beyond working with metal though and includes wood finishing, fence building, landscaping, equipment maintenance and various home repairs.
We’ve all asked ourselves the big question: “What career is right for me?”. I have always had a hard time with that question, but eventually came to a realization that maybe I don’t need to pick just one thing, I can do a variety of different things. And so Gray Jay Handyman Services was born!
